  • There are several reasons why we chose Alex over other less expensive interior designers to remodel our home. Her presentation and plan were robust, her process followed a clear formula, and she was upfront and honest about costs. Her Friday Roundup emails kept us updated so we wouldn’t feel stressed. In the end, we saved a lot of time and money. Alex is super confident while taking feedback and direction well. She’s reliable and knowledgeable and works with a talented team. Every step of the way, her objective was clear: To make us happy.”

  • I had a vision for my new wine bar in the mountains just outside of Vail and Alex brought it to life! This place is awesome. Comfortable and cozy, like coming home. Alex recommended painting the walls and ceiling a blue spruce color to warm up the room. There’s a gorgeous mirror, a long table made from a slab of acacia wood and cool, unique lighting. The tops of oak barrels line the walls of the staircase leading down to a room for private parties. Alex is vibrant, fun and empathetic. So creative and a great communicator who knows how to make things happen. And she did it all remotely! In hindsight, I would have had Genesi manage the whole project, including construction from start to finish for ease, instead of working independently with a contractor.”

  • I just wanted to send you a note of thanks, for the beautiful work you and your team did for our new condo. We are beyond thrilled with results. It was a pleasure and ease to work with you and your team. Everyone was professional, they listened to our wants/wishes, translated that into a stunning interior design and easily executed the project. I could not be happier. I would definitely recommend Genesi Design Studio for anyone looking for interior design work!

  • What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned in your Interior Design career?

My biggest lesson so far is that no design project is perfect. There is always going to be a mistake, a misorder, a delay, something! I've learned that sharing the journey, the highs and lows, and all the emotions our clients will experience through-out the process, as well as being up-front and as transparent as we can possibly be with our clients is the perfect recipe to navigate through anything that pops up along the way. Our investment in top-tier communication and partnership with our clients is exactly what allows us to bring our projects from design to delivery with ease.

What is your favorite aspect of a project?

I love staring at a blank space, until some crazy patterns, prints, shapes or colors pop into my mind. A lot of designers have a starting point to a room—a rug, walls, or furniture—and they build around it. For me it can be anything; even a color. I'm not married to one singular element, which allows me to be especially creative and experimentative once I do find that one... "thing". I'm also an irregularly shaped, colorful type of designer. I certainly appreciate designing something neutral, calm and simple, but I promise I will always encourage our clients to add a bold pop of something in their space ;). If I had it my way all the time, there'd be animal prints, black, white and some crazy pop of colour nearby.

    Describe your next dream project:

I'd like to personally purchase a small boutique hotel on an island and design every single element of it. My background before owning my firm was in retail, so there's something about the marriage between how someone experiences a space, because of how it's designed, and how it functions or performs. That's where my heart sings. Until I can purchase my own, we are READY to take on your next boutique island project, haha!

  • What is the most impactful lesson you’ve learned in your Interior Design career?

One of the most impactful lessons in my interior design career has been the realization that successful design isn't just about creating visually appealing spaces; it's about understanding and fulfilling the needs and desires of the people who will inhabit those spaces. This has taught me the importance of empathy and active listening when working with clients, as well as the significance of thoughtful, user-centered design solutions. This lesson has not only strengthened my design skills but also deepened the trust and satisfaction of our clients, leading to more fulfilling and successful projects. I love the connection and relationships we have the opportunity to create with our clients.

What is your favorite aspect of a project?

My favourite aspect of a project is undeniably the design process itself. Beginning with a blank canvas and crafting a space that fulfills a client's vision is like solving a creative puzzle. It's a journey of problem-solving and creativity where we not only create a visually stunning environment but also ensure its functionality and practicality for the client's needs.

I also find a ton of value in collaborating with Alex, whose design mantra of 'more is more' contrasts with my inclination towards 'less is more'. While our initial instincts may differ, we consistently find common ground, leaning slightly towards Alex's boldness while still honoring the elegance of simplicity. She's taught me so much with each project we work on together.

    Describe your next dream project:

My next dream project would be designing a charming cottage or country home. There's something about creating a space that's not just a primary residence that excites me. The emotions involved for the clients are different, and so are the needs. A country home functions in a unique way compared to a city home, offering us a chance to use a different kind of creativity. It's exciting to tackle projects that vary greatly from our past work. We want to ensure each project feels fresh and unique, avoiding any sense of repetition or 'copy and paste' design. Designing a cottage or country home would give us the chance to explore new ideas and approaches.
